Stella Airoldi
Founder & International Host
Stella first visited Uganda in 2009 and founded 22STARS after building lasting relationships there. With a background in international law and human rights, she brings local knowledge, personal stories and a passion for connecting travel with meaningful contribution.
Susan Laker
Kampala Project Leader
Susan has been part of 22STARS from the beginning and leads our work in Kampala. She shares her community’s stories and entrepreneurial spirit with warmth, humour and the insight of someone who knows it deeply.
Aidah Nambozo Wafula
Jinja Project Leader
Aidah leads our programmes in Jinja and has worked alongside Stella since the early days. She brings you into the community she knows so well, sharing everyday life, local perspectives and the progress she has helped shape.
David Wafula
Uganda Coordinator & Host
David, affectionately known as David Senior, coordinates 22STARS across Kampala and Jinja. His relationships, local knowledge and practical experience help bring the journey together, connecting you with the people and programmes along the way.

International Co-Host
David, aka David Junior, first joined an Impact Trip as a participant and now co-hosts alongside Stella and the Ugandan team. He brings a guest’s perspective and helps create a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

Stay in shared twin cottages at a peaceful green base in Uganda’s energetic capital. Each cottage has a living room, balcony and kitchen upstairs, with the bedroom and private bathroom downstairs. Enjoy the pool and garden between city adventures and time with the 22STARS community.JINJA · 4 NIGHTS
Wake up overlooking the Nile in shared twin river-view tents, with monkeys sometimes hopping across the canvas above you. Take a morning dip before the programme begins, unwind in nature and enjoy relaxed evenings with the group. It’s one of our favourite ways to experience Jinja. Bathrooms are shared and located outside the tents. Prefer your own space or a private bathroom? A single tent or a room with a private bathroom can be requested at an additional cost, subject to availability.
Accommodation is shared by two participants. Coming on your own? We’ll help arrange your room share.
